The best training for the next generation of apprenticeships
M
HI in partnership with Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), College Industry Council on Material Handling (CICMHE), Material
Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) and the Material Handling Education Foundation (MHEFI) is organising a Student Day at MODEX 2022. The interactive event for college, university, trade, technical, specialty and high school students connects them with the best in the industry through real-world discussions with industry experts. The highlight of the day is a guided tour of the
show floor, led by industry experts and the chance to meet with exhibiting companies, who are looking for future employees. Along with gaining a real- world understanding of the products, services, and technologies that enable the supply chain to do what they do best, students will walk away feeling inspired and empowered with a broader network of professionals who can support their career goals. In other news, PACCAR Winch, which engineers and
manufactures winch, hoist and gear systems under the Braden, Carco and Gearmatic brand names, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with a second manufacturing facility in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. has announced its 2022 Service School Schedule including its Standard and Advanced Planetary Hoist Service School as well as classes on Carco and Recovery Winches,
providing Authorized Service Centers, Distributors, OEMs and end users with the knowledge to perform service support work on Braden, Carco and Gearmatic winches, hoists and drives. In the UK, the Lifting Equipment Engineers
Association (LEEA) Level 3 Lifting Equipment Technician apprenticeship standard is now open. With the City of Bristol College, the target is to enrol the first set of apprentices in April 2022, for a May start. “I would encourage the lifting industry and LEEA members in particular to get in touch to explore the significant benefits offered by the apprenticeship. Innovative ways to make sure its delivery is engaging and offers value to employers are now being developed. LEEA is delighted to support employers and providers as they look to deliver demand-led training,” said Ross Moloney, CEO, LEEA. He added, the much needed and long-awaited
training opportunity for the Lifting Industry is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work, particularly from the Trailblazer group led by Kat Moss, who will be able to observe the take-up as LEEA’s new chair. Turn to p37 to read more about Moss in our feature celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022.
