NPA IN FOCUS
Anne McAllister Northern Ireland Representation Manager
The NPA has been supporting community pharmacies for 100 years! As well as commemorating the past, we will also be using this centenary year as a springboard to the future. We want to thank all our members in Northern Ireland for being with us on our journey to date – and we look forward to meeting your ever-changing needs long into the future.
Community pharmacy in Northern Ireland welcomed the go- ahead given by the Health and Social Care Board to administer COVID-19 vaccinations. Pharmacies elsewhere in the UK are playing a crucial role in protecting the population and getting us all back to normality and it is great that we too can play our part.
Bespoke support will be available through the NPA for our members. NPA members will also have the opportunity to add an additional revenue stream by selling ‘fit to fly’ and ‘test to release’ COVID-19 tests to customers. The NPA has teamed up with business partner Medicspot to provide its members with exclusive discounts.
Pharmacies are being encouraged to sign up to the Ask for ANI codeword scheme run by the Home Office to enable victims of domestic abuse to discreetly request immediate help from the police or other support services from the safety of their local pharmacy.
Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse. This is why pharmacies, used by people from all walks of life, are being invited to volunteer to take part in this important initiative. The sign-up process is open to all pharmacies and those that sign up will receive promotional material to show they are taking part.
