THE UK INTERNAL MARKET SCHEME CAN SIGNIFICANTLY SIMPLIFY YOUR EXPERIENCE WHEN BRINGING GOODS INTO NORTHERN IRELAND

5. After approval If successful, you will receive: • A notification of approval • A letter containing your UKIMS authorisation number

• Instructions on using your authorisation

Important things to remember People in charge of the business: • Make sure you provide the details of all the people in charge of the business. If it is registered with Companies House this will be the company directors

Indirect representatives: • You will need to use an indirect representative if you are not established or do not have a fixed place of business in Northern Ireland. This could be the free Trader Support Service (TSS) or another intermediary

• If you are sending business-to-business parcels your parcel carrier typically acts as your indirect representative

Record keeping: • You will need to provide the name of the software package you use to keep your records or provide further explanation if you have physical files

• You will also have to provide details on how you track goods from import to final sale or use by end consumers in the UK. This could be logistics systems or stock control processes

Getting help If you need support, the free-to-use Trader Support Service (TSS) is available to guide you through: • The application process • Understanding the Windsor Framework • Making declarations Just search ‘Trader Support Service’ on GOV.UK to find out more.

Next steps Once you are UKIMS authorised you might want to consider accessing your Trader Goods Profile

or TGP. This is a new online service that stores information about goods you commonly move from GB to NI. When it is set up, your unique TGP will help you save time when the new Windsor Framework processes come into effect.

This is because you can use it to quickly populate a number of fields in the reduced dataset you will use to move goods. You can find out more and access your TGP on GOV.UK by searching ‘Trader Goods Profile’.

The UK Internal Market Scheme can significantly simplify your experience when bringing goods into Northern Ireland. Taking it step by step and ensuring you meet all requirements will help ensure success.

Remember: Be honest in your application and don't hesitate to seek help if you need it either by contacting the Trader Support Service or reading the comprehensive guidance on GOV.UK.

LIVING WELL: LOOK AFTER YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

The latest Living Well campaign highlights the importance of looking after your mental health and recognising the signs of poor mental health. It highlights common mental health problems, simple things you can do to improve your mental health and how to get help if you need it.

The ‘Look after your mental health' campaign is running in Living Well community pharmacies in February and March 2025.

Kathy Owens, Health and Social Wellbeing Improvement Manager at the PHA, said, “Common mental health problems such as anxiety, stress, low mood and depression can affect anyone.

While these feelings can be a natural response to life’s challenges, they can become more serious if we don’t do something to help improve our mental health.

“The latest Living Well campaign highlights the importance of looking after our mental health, recognising the signs of poor mental health, highlighting the actions we can take to improve our mental health and how to get help if needed."

In Northern Ireland, at any given time, one in five adults will be experiencing mental ill-health. Mental health is shaped by the wide-ranging characteristics of the social, economic and physical environments in which people live.

Looking after our mental health is not something we should just do when we are feeling down, it is something we should proactively maintain just like our physical health.
