APPEAL

HAVE YOU SPOTTED A UFO?

In an open letter to PFEW members, Inspector Roy Teague is asking for information on UFO sightings for a book on this fascinating, and often misunderstood, subject

After the success of their first book on sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), West Midlands Police Inspector and Police Federation rep Roy Teague, and co-author, retired Detective John Hanson, are writing their second volume. They are casting the net wide by making a national appeal for people to come forward to share their experiences on UFO sightings. Here is Inspector Teague’s open letter to members.

Dear colleagues, I am a firearms inspector who serves in the West Midlands Police. I am appealing to any police officer or civilian staff member to contact me if they have ever had a UFO sighting at any point in their lives. I am seeking these accounts for a book, which will be the first in history to record UFO sightings by UK police officers. The book is titled ‘Policing the

Haunted Skies’. Initially, I appealed for individual accounts of UFO sightings locally, throughout the West Midlands. The response to this appeal was so overwhelming that I am now asking for assistance at a national level. So far, I have kindly been aided by PFEW, the National Association of Retired Police Officers, and the BBC. I had planned to write one book, but the sheer volume of police officers’ accounts involving UFO sightings has inspired me to write a second and third volume.

50 | POLICE | APRIL 2023

The first volume is now complete and available. I am, therefore, appealing at the national level for witnesses to come forward, as I know there are almost certainly many more police officer UFO accounts out there yet to be told. I would like to tell those stories and publish the accounts, so that they are saved for future generations. I would like to assure my fellow officers that any information provided to me will be treated in strictest confidence, and

complete anonymity will be maintained, if requested. I can be contacted at roy.teague@westmidlands.police.uk.

Kind regards,

Inspector Roy Teague West Midlands Police
