PHV DRIVING AROUND LINCOLN WITH PHV LICENCE PLATE EXPIRY DATE OF 13 OCTOBER 2021

A private hire vehicle has been spotted driving around Lincoln displaying a private hire vehicle licence plate expiry date of 13 October 2021.

And this is not the only one! Apparently Lincoln City Council is aware of the situation and says

there is a backlog which is due to Covid. But that was three years ago and it’s still happening. The council confirmed that the vehicles are in fact licensed and that they have paperwork to support this.

PETERBOROUGH DRIVER BREAKS DOWN AND IS FOUND TO BE OPERATING ILLEGITIMATE TAXI SERVICE

A driver who found themselves stranded on the Fletton Parkway in Peterborough on a recent Sat- urday has had a particularly unfortunate day. Not only did their vehicle break down, but they were also found to be operating a ‘taxi service’ without the necessary insurance. Local police responded to the

scene, initially intending to assist the driver. However, upon further investi- gation, they discovered that the individual had been offering rides for a fee without the correct insurance. Police said: “Needless to say the car was seized and the driver has been reported for the offence.”

LANCASHIRE PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER FOUND ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL IN MIDDLE OF ROAD

A private hire driver was found asleep in his vehicle in the middle of the road, prompting concerns for public safety. Tahis Zaman, 34, from Barrowford, was arrested after police struggled to rouse him. When he was eventually roused, he was found to be under the influence of cannabis. Zaman was convicted after a trial of being in charge of a vehicle while over the legal limit for

46

cannabis and possession of the drug. He was fined £200, ordered to pay £400 in costs, an £80 victim surcharge and was given a 12- month driving ban. The judge, Deputy District Judge Timothy Gascoyne, expressed his concern over the potential danger posed by Zaman’s actions. He noted that if the driver had woken up before police arrived, there was a risk of him driving in a

dangerous condition. Prosecutors said that police had to bang on the car windows to wake Zaman up and that he was slurring his words and smelled of cannabis. Zaman's defence argued that his actions were

influenced by a

combination of prescription medications and cannabis and that the reading of 3.2 against the legal limit of 2 was not a particularly high reading.
