The taxi and private hire industry is entering a period of major change. New legislation, technological developments, shifting operating models, and increasing financial pressures are creating both challenges and opportunities across the sector.
There has never been a more important time for drivers, operators, suppliers and industry representatives to come together.
That is why we are proud to once again attend the nation’s
largest, most established, and longest-
running annual trade event - PHTM EXPO - a key opportunity for the industry to meet, share ideas, ask questions, attend expert seminars, and explore the latest technology, vehicles, products and services available.
Representing the industry all year round
The NPHTA continues to work tirelessly on behalf of the trade, with activity over the past year including:
l Multiple written submissions to the Transport Select Committee
l Attendance at Parliament to provide oral evidence to the Transport Select Committee
l Participation at events hosted by the Institute of Licensing, ensuring industry concerns are heard directly by decision-makers
l Ongoing support, guidance, and representation for members across the country
l Responses to local authority consultations on policies and licence conditions
l Submissions regarding the Devolution and Empowerment Bill consultation
This work reflects our core purpose: ensuring the voices of those working within the taxi and private hire trade are properly represented.
30 A truly all-encompassing trade body
What makes the NPHTA unique is the breadth of those we represent. We support: l Taxi drivers l Private hire drivers l Private hire operators l Regional associations

Key issues facing the industry
The months and years ahead are likely to bring significant developments, including: 1. Out-of-area use, so-called cross-border working 2. The introduction of national standards
3. Devolution and the restructuring of local authorities from over 250 to around 70
4. The future role of autonomous vehicles 5. Rising fuel and operating costs
These changes could reshape how the industry operates for years to come. Want to know more...
