MOBILIZE, iCABBi AND

Jean-Christophe Labarre is Strategy and Partnerships Director of Mobilize, which is Renault Group’s brand developing mobility,

energy

and financing-related services. iCabbi is part of the Mobilize ecosystem.

Following its acquisition by Renault in 2018, we spoke with Jean-Christophe - Chairman of the iCabbi Board of Directors - to get his take on the taxi and private hire sector in the UK and understand how his vision for iCabbi has materialised.

Q A

Jean-Christophe, you were instrumental in introducing iCabbi into the Renault Group in 2018, what attracted you to iCabbi?

There are two components here. First, we were attracted to the taxi industry. We are a car OEM, after all, and the taxi industry

offers a critical mass of companies with vehicle needs. Second, we could also see a shift in the changing role of the traditional taxi company and this was of great interest to us.

iCabbi stood out to us for a number of reasons - their technology, their penetration of the global market and I was also impressed by the skill and ambition of their management team.

Q A

Has your investment in iCabbi been successful?

beyond that financial aspect, we

Yes! It is one of my proudest achievements at Renault Group. The return on invest- ment has certainly been made, and have

developed many synergies between Mobilize and iCabbi, through the years. iCabbi is a profitable business with revenue jumping year on year. On our last check, iCabbi’s revenue was four times more than its closest competitor, which speaks volumes. We also did several

26

acquisitions since 2018 to foster iCabbi’s growth. And there are more to come.

Q Q

A A

How closely do you work with the iCabbi team?

We are one team! My colleagues and I work very closely with Mick Tope and the iCabbi management team.

What impact has Mobilize made on the UK sector through iCabbi?

A substantial one. Look at the Taxi Alliance. This is an unprecedented business model that brings the technology

provider and the customer into a true partner- ship with one another, delivering stability and security to fleets.

Then there is iCabbi’s integration with Google Fleet Engine which is the very first of its kind for the industry, indeed for any B2B mobility provider. This enables iCabbi to harness Google’s powerful algorithms and real-time ETA ecosystem, levelling the playing field between taxi and private hire fleets and the global ride-hail players. With the support of Mobilize, iCabbi has absorbed this cost for its customers.
