GYS’ pledge to support tool stockists
GYS, Europe’s largest welding equipment manufacturer, have identified that many tool shops have not adjusted their welding offer to reflect current trends and technology. In excess of 90% welding machines sold today are ‘inverter’ machines as opposed to older traditional transformer welders.
The latest electronic inverter machines offer many advantages to the user including a smoother welding result, anti- sticking and other welding aids as well as being smaller, lighter and easier to use. They also take up less shelf space and are easier to ship.
It is also important to know that consumables and accessories can account for over 50% of sales but GYS says it can be difficult for a retailer with many product ranges to have the right information to be able to choose which lines to stock accurately. To solve this problem, GYS has created specific stock modules with innovative pack sizes to optimize stock

profiles addressing sales opportunities whilst minimizing shelf space and stock investment required.
Greg Ball, GYS sales director, said: “We see neglected ranges all of the time which often is simply the result of not being able to access good advice from a specialist supplier with the right knowledge. Sales are being missed with customers being forced to go elsewhere. We address this with not only stock solutions but also, importantly, welding knowledge and advice to train or assist store staff where confidence to advise customers on welding equipment can be low.
“Also, with the major DIY chains not selling welding machines in the UK the market is open to any tool shop that chooses to address the market. This is where GYS can help.”
GYS is the only manufacturer of welding machines that has a presence in the UK tailored to supporting tool shops.
