SKIPS NWH supports Veterans in Crisis

THE waste recycler NWH Group is helping Veterans in Crisis Sunderland (VICS), a local charity that supports armed forces veterans to get back on their feet, by donating free skip hire for a property renovation on behalf of an 86-year-old veteran’s widow.

Ger Fowler, founder and project lead at VICS, said: “It’s been a massive team effort and we are overwhelmed by the support from across the Sunderland community. It’s brilliant to be able to make such a massive positive impact for this lady, especially at Christmas. Everyone has really pulled together and the contribution will last for years to come.”

The property was in a poor state of repair, without heating or lighting, holes in the roof and a dysfunctional bathroom. VICS has co-ordinated support from a number of local businesses to completely overhaul the property, including fixing the ceiling and lighting, replacing flooring, a new bathroom and plumbing, new kitchen units and cooker, installing a new boiler and central heating system, as well as fixing the front door, tidying the yard and providing a new bed, bedding and a food hamper.

Andrew Turnbull, depot manager at NWH Group in Newcastle, said: “Making a positive impact in the community is a

priority for our business and so we are delighted to be able to support VICS with the removal of waste during the renovation.”

Maintenance sponsors Kidderminster Lions

UK Container Maintenance (UKCM), the UK’s largest family-owned container repair and refurbishment company has announced its kit sponsorship for the U18’s Kidderminster Lions Football Team.

The sponsorship is also in recognition of the team having been together for 10 years – an impressive milestone for the boys, many of whom first came together as primary school children, and have since enjoyed much success together as players in the highly competitive Midlands Junior Premier League.

Football team manager Mark Roberts commented: “We are extremely grateful to UKCM for all their support last season, and their continued generosity into this season as our kit sponsor. They are all proud to wear their new kits – a great way to celebrate the team’s 10 year milestone!”
