BUSINESS TRAVEL TRAINING FOR ALL

T

ravilearn was founded by Karen McKenna and Ian Dockreay to create the industry’s first global online learning platform

that focuses on business travel. The certified range of courses and toolkits are designed for a wide range of learners, from buyers to TMC and supplier staff and management. Karen McKenna, Head of Education at Travilearn, explains below how Travilearn can help you and your business.

Q. Why did you create an online platform?

We wanted training that was available to everyone, irrespective of location, time constraints or accessibility. Strong global growth has increased the demand for staff and good management, so organisations are struggling to attract candidates with the right sets of skills. Those already in the industry also need to have on-demand access to the type of training that provides them with the knowledge for career advancement and personal development. We created our courses so that

learners can have access to e-learning at a moderate price, and in a structured and certified framework. The courses are designed to contribute to their professional development throughout their career.

Q. Who is it designed for?

Business travel buyers, suppliers and intermediaries. There’s no point in

educating one side of the industry but not involving the other. Both sides have similar challenges, they are just coming at it from different perspectives. We’ve addressed that by tailoring the e-learning for different audiences. As with many new ventures, we

started with a vision, and then created a mission statement that reflected that. Our mission, we decided, was “to provide

training courses and toolkits for anyone, anywhere, anytime and, on any device”. The modern learner wants multi-device

learning, and they want to do it in their own time – on the way to work, in the evenings, or at their desk. We decided at the outset that it had to

be on a platform that would evolve with advances in technology.

Q. How do your e-learning courses differ from more traditional approaches to learning?

They are very different, and more dynamic. The training is delivered using videos, infographics and audio. Learners can then test their knowledge with interactive quizzes that offer helpful responses. There are also opportunities to revisit any areas the learner finds particularly challenging. Every module tells a story, step-by-

step, with case studies and helpful tips along the way that test and build the learner’s understanding.

Q. What certification will learners receive ?

Travilearn have partnered with the GTMC (Guild of Travel Management Companies) to provide the Corporate Travel Professional Diploma for suppliers. Additionally, we offer a travel buyer

version, which is entitled Corporate Travel Professional in Travel Management Diploma. This also GTMC certified.
