Celebrating together – take part in this year’s CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Shadowing Scheme
Shortlists for the 2021 CILIP Carnegie Kate Greenaway (CKG) medals have been announced with 16 books still in the running for the the UK’s oldest and best-loved book awards for children and young people, featuring themes of freedom, the great outdoors, and journeys through the natural world.
THE CILIP Carnegie Medal celebrates outstanding achieve- ment in children’s writing while the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal does the same for illustration. There are 16 shortlisted titles for the
2021 Medals (eight on each shortlist), selected from 40 titles longlisted by a team of 15 librarians from across the UK. And with the winners due to be announced in the summer, there is still time for schools to get involved in the hugely popular Shadowing Scheme and Shadower’s Choice Award.
Children and young people can take part in the scheme and help to pick their own winners in each category. It’s easy to get involved with plenty of free resources available to help encourage lively debate and participation. Just head to the Shadowing website at
