NEWS New trustees for Board


THREE new trustees have been elected onto the 12-strong CILIP board working alongside the presidential team, and responsible for directing the affairs of CILIP, ensuring that it is solvent and well-run, and delivering the charita- ble objectives and purpose of its Royal Charter.


Janet Peden


Janet has over 34 years’ experience of working in academic libraries and has been University Librarian, Ulster University, since April 2013 and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Against the backdrop of Brexit, COVID-19, spiralling eBook costs and the shifting landscape of HE, she oversaw the design and delivery of a new library at Ulster University’s new city centre campus. Janet led on the development of a vision for the Library Service which led to the introduction of new services and facilities as the Library Service embraced new ways of working. A­Chartered­member­of­CILIP,­Janet­is­also­a­qualified­coach­ and mentor with a keen interest in the changing roles and skills of academic librarians.


Anthony Adeloye


A librarian and academic researcher, Anthony is the former Chief Librarian at the Nigeria High Commission Library in London and is currently part of the Teaching Associate pool at the University of Cumbria, England.


His career spans academic and special libraries and local govern-


ment. He holds a Master of Science degree in Information Science, a Master of Philosophy degree in Archive Studies and library studies from University College (UCL) the University of London, and a Ph.D. from Aberystwyth. A Chartered Member of CILIP, his Special Interest Groups include


the Knowledge and Information Management Group and Profes- sional Registration Mentors. He was previously an ALA Accessor. He is a Trustee member of the Southwark Diocesan Board of Educa- tion, serving on its Board of Further Education and Higher Education.


Sue Williamson Sue worked in public libraries for 25 years before taking on the strate- gic role of Director, Libraries for Arts Council England. As chair of the English Public Libraries Strategic Working Group she supported the growth of strategic sectoral partnership and work on major projects such as Accreditation, the Single Digital Presence (LibraryOn) and the CILIP led projects on Working Internationally and Green Libraries. She also commissioned reports on public libraries impact on employability and the impact of the Summer Reading Challenge and supported the Big Jubilee Read. For her services to Public Libraries, she was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Jubilee Honours. Following her retirement, she has continued to serve libraries as


Vice President and then President of CILIP in 2023-2024 and as Vice Chair of the Board of The Reading Agency.
