The AGM will be an opportunity for you to hear more about the work of CILIP as well as hearing from those working in the profession. The AGM is a two-way opportunity – for you to vote on key issues and for us to listen and respond to your questions. Members wishing to submit resolutions to be considered at

the AGM should send them in writing or by email, clearly marked ‘Resolution for AGM’, to Louis Coiffait-Gunn, Chief Execu- tive, CILIP, Room 150, The British Library, 96 Euston Road London NW1 2DB or by email to Denise.Hawkes@ciliporg.uk.

The last day by which notice of any resolution must be received is midnight on Friday 23 August 2024.

Who can stand for election?

Candidates wishing to stand for election as Vice-President or as a trustee must generally be an ordinary member of CILIP on submission of their nomination or be willing to join within one month of submission. They must not be disqualified from holding office as a Trustee. Nomination forms, with information about how to stand for these positions, can be downloaded from the CILIP web- site at www.cilip.org.uk/nominate. To arrange an informal chat about the posts with Kate Robinson, Chair of the Board, please

email Denise Hawkes at Denise.Hawkes@ cilip.org.uk.

Completed nominations MUST be received by Denise Hawkes Denise. Hawkes@cilip.org.uk no later than 5pm on 27 September 2024.

As an organisation that promotes equal opportunities and diversity, CILIP is keen to encourage members from all back- grounds and parts of CILIP to consider standing, including those from global majority communities and under-repre- sented groups within the profession.

Voting

If either election is contested, a ballot will be held. All members eligible to vote and with an email address registered with CILIP, will receive an email with full information on how to vote online. Only those members for whom CILIP does not have an email address will receive a postal ballot paper. Please ensure that CILIP has your up-to-date email address. If you have any queries, please contact membership via email at: membership@cilip.org.uk

Thinking about joining the CILIP Board or Presidential Team

MEMBERS have the opportunity to put themselves forward to serve as a trustee or the Vice-President. If elected, you will work with other trustees, the Presidential Team and staff to set CILIP’s strategic direction and make sure that members’ interests are met and secure. The Board is responsible for making sure that the organisation is financially sound and com- plies with the law.

As part of our commitment to equality and diversity we are actively encouraging members from all backgrounds to consid- er standing, particularly those from global majority communities.

We will offer one year’s complimentary membership to library and information workers from global majority back- grounds who are duly elected.

Who can stand?

You must be at least 18-years-old and an Individual Member (or through compli- mentary membership as outlined above)
