and library service professional in the NHS helping clinicians make the right decisions for their patients. “Libraries are constantly evolving and re-inventing themselves to meet new challenges and opportunities, and our Libraries Change Lives Week is a perfect opportunity for us to showcase that adaptability and the impact they are having.”
Services, staff and users are being asked to add their own highlights to the Libraries Change Lives platform. Hinna Vayani, Associate Project manager at CILIP, wants to see as many libraries as possible taking part, saying: “We are looking for everyday stories of how library services change lives, which we can share with the public and politicians so they understand the importance and relevance of library and information services. Evidence from any sector or service can be shared on the platform and we’d encourage anyone with a story to tell to join us in celebrating the posi- tive changes that libraries foster.” Libraries Change Lives Week takes place from 24 to 28 June, and will culminate with an event at the Houses of Parliament where CILIP will meet with politicians from all parties and showcase the power of libraries. The evidence and stories from the Libraries Change Lives portal will help paint a picture of the many ways that libraries are supporting a whole range of com- munities and individuals.
CILIP is keen to ensure a broad range of services and sectors are showcased and have created six categories to help as many people as possible to share their experiences. These categories mirror many of the current political priorities and demonstrate how librar- ies and information and knowledge services are already helping to deliver positive change. The six categories are: Sense of place; Stronger communities; Green and sustainable; Health and care; Enterprise and creativity; Learning and Social Mobility.

We are looking for everyday stories of how libraries change lives in the following six areas of impact: 1. Sense of place
2. Stronger communities 3. Green and sustainable
What do we need from you?
l We know that libraries and library staff change lives for the better. They not only provide access to books and other literature but also help people to help themselves and improve their opportunities, bring people together, and provide practical support and guidance. As a locally accountable service, they are well- placed to respond to local needs and issues.
l We need to provide practical case studies that demonstrate to an incoming Government how libraries are supporting some of the key priorities for policymakers.
l Send us your stories and help raise the public profile of libraries This is open to libraries across all sectors in the UK.
