Last chance to book for CILIP Conference and Expo 2022
THERE is still just about time to book for CILIP Conference and Expo opens in Liverpool, offer- ing delegates the chance to meet and reconnect in person at the UK’s biggest sector-wide event for information professionals. Taking place on 7 and 8 July, the two-day conference will be the first major in-person conference from CILIP since the pandemic and there will be a renewed focus on face-to face oppor- tunities. As well as a broad range of speakers, debates and workshops there will also be a revamped Expo Hall and networking area. The aim is to make it easier than ever to make connections and find the latest innovations and best practice in the profession. Conference organiser Rachel Kudlick
said: “Everywhere you look, something will be happening. As well as a com- prehensive conference programme, the exhibition floor will be a hive of activity offering the chance to experiment with tech, chat with new colleagues in a re- laxed environment, discover new prod- ucts and services, and sow the seeds of collaborative projects.” Keynote speakers confirmed for the conference include Sayf Al Ashqar of Mosul University library talking about bringing the library back to life follow-
ing its destruction at the hands of ISIS fighters; Professor Jacqueline McGlade, Professor of Natural Prosperity, Sustaina- ble Development and Knowledge Systems, UCL; and Krystal Vittles, Sussex Libraries’ Deputy Chief Executive. And poet, writer and performer Vanessa Kisuule has just been announced, with a specially recorded message for conference goers. CILIP Chief Executive Nick Poole said
this year’s Conference is a chance for the professional community to come together in a spirit of renewal, adding: “On the one hand, as a community, a profession, a sec- tor we need to come together to pick up where we left off – to resume the work of ‘changing lives through quality informa-
tion, services and expertise’, the vision that sits at the heart of We Are CILIP. “On the other, there is an opportunity
to come together to tell a new story of the currency and relevance of our member’s skills in a post-truth, post-pandemic world that is facing some tremendous challenges. “CILIP Conference and Expo creates exactly the moment of renewal we need to put this plan into action – an oppor- tunity to reunite, to regroup, to draw on our long-standing strengths and to think differently about the future. A shared moment of renewal.” Find out more about this year’s Confer-

Honorary Fellowships 2022 – time to make your nominations
CILIP has opened nominiations for its 2022 Honorary Fellowships. Honorary Fellowship is the highest recognition that CILIP can offer as a profes- sional body. It is a way to acknowledge peo- ple who have made a lasting difference to the wider world – either through their work as a knowledge or information professional or librarian, or more broadly through their

support for the professional community. This year, CILIP is hoping to acknowledge
some of the people – both in the profession and more broadly – who have gone “above and beyond” during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nominees do not need to be a CILIP mem- ber, so if you know someone who has made a real difference, either through their work as an information professional or in promoting
better use of information in society, please do put forward a nomination. All nominations are made in strict confi- dence and the Honorary Fellows for 2022 will be announced at the CILIP AGM. Members are invited to put forward nomi- nations by the close of play 30 June using the criteria and nominations form available at
www.cilip.org.uk/honoraryfellowship.
