ABOUT THE AUTHOR


Capt Mark Souter MIIMS was born in Australia where he qualified as an A grade electrician. He came to the UK and bought his first yacht ‘Gipsy Moth’, previously owned by Sir Francis Chichester.


Since then Mark has qualified as a Master of Yachts (MCA) at Warsash Maritime Centre. He received a diploma in marine surveying with accreditation in superyachts and also gained a certificate in Naval Architecture.


For over 30 years Mark has worked as a professional Captain aboard superyachts. In between his Captain’s duties he has project managed and surveyed new build yachts in the USA, Italy and Greece.
