IIMS Irish fishing vessel grounded


The Irish Coast Guard responded to a grounded fishing trawler on the west coast airlifting nine crewmembers to safety. The Coast Guard reports it was a challenging situation but that everyone was safe and the vessel was eventually pulled from the rocks.


Indonesian Navy landing ship on fire


Indonesian Navy landing ship KRI TELUK HADING (538) caught fire in the Flores sea some 9 nm off Bira, southeast South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The ship was on patrol mission in Indonesia waters with 119 people on board, including 62 crew and 57 Army troopers. No casualties were reported.


Scrap fire in bulk carrier hold, Dordrecht


Fire broke out in the cargo hold of bulk carrier SILVER LADY, berthed at Dordrecht Netherlands, during scrap loading. Fire spread also to scrap piled at the quayside. The large firefighting response managed to take the fire under control. There was a lot of black toxic smoke.


General cargo ships collided of Chios


General cargo ships ANT and POTENTIA collided 9 nm north of northwest tip of Chios island, Greece. ANT was sailing in a northerly direction. POTENTIA was sailing due west. Reports suggest both ships sustained serious damages. No injures were reported.

3 missing after motor boat caught fire


According to Egyptian officials, three British tourists were missing and twelve had been rescued after a motor boat caught fire off the Egyptian Red Sea coast. It is suggested the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit on the boat, named Hurricane. The survivors were brought to safety in the nearby diving resort of Marsa Shagra along with 12 Egyptian crew and guides.


Fire breaks out on MSC containership in Persian Gulf


The National Search and Rescue Center of the National Guard from the United Arab Emirates reported it assisted an MSC containership, which was registered in Panama, that was experiencing a fire while in their territorial waters. A helicopter evacuated one crewmember who reportedly suffered burn injuries. The injured individual was later brought to hospital in Abu Dhabi for treatment.


Passengers evacuated after experiencing engine room fire


According to U.S. Coast Guard, 67 people were safely evacuated from a small, expedition cruise ship, in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska after the cruise ship reported an engine room fire.


Ferry fire in the Philippines


Ferry ESPERANZA STAR with 65 people on board caught fire off Panglao island, Bohol, Philippines. Philippines Coast Guard responded all people are reportedly safe.
