Against the backdrop of COVID-19, the OPEC Fund’s mission to help governments strengthen their healthcare systems is more urgent than ever.

in more than 125 countries since its foundation in 1976, the OPEC Fund has a longstanding involvement in healthcare
projects. In total, we have pledged US$1.1 billion to sovereign and non- sovereign health projects. In March 2020, we committed US$1 billion to COVID-19-related projects – nearly all of which has now been deployed. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, we will continue to increase our engagement with our client countries, partners and the international development community and focus our efforts on contributing to immediate relief and longer-term economic recovery, where support is most needed.
