OFQ: Evercare is also expanding high quality healthcare in south Asia. Can you tell us more about this? MC: In south Asia we cooperate with governments to provide high-quality care and develop our facilities in line with domestic public health priorities. We work in India, Pakistan and, most recently, Bangladesh. Evercare Hospital Dhaka is the only hospital in Bangladesh accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), a non-profit organization that certifies medical services around the world and is recognized as the global gold standard in quality and patient safety. The Group’s newest hospital, Evercare Hospital Chattogram in south-eastern Bangladesh, handles patients who previously would have had to travel to Dhaka or India for treatment. Recently, the surgical team performed a cranioplasty in an ‘awake’ surgery to repair a bone defect in the skull of a 69-year old stroke patient, the first such operation performed in this part of Bangladesh. Evercare Hospital Chattogram is the
city’s first multi-disciplinary, tertiary care hospital. With 470 beds, it features a full service 24/7 emergency department, state-of-the art ICUs and 27 specialty and subspecialty units.
We believe there is a fundamental connection between healthy patients, thriving communities and a safe, clean environment.

OFQ: Sustainable development is a key focus for many businesses. How does Evercare embed this in its operations? MC: We believe that there is a fundamental connection between healthy patients, thriving communities and a safe, clean environment and that we have a responsibility to demonstrate our commitment and leadership in our business practices, offices, healthcare facilities and overall ecosystem. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices are embedded across our operations. We have appointed ESG teams, who are responsible for implementing comprehensive environmental and social action plans focused on energy efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint, fire safety, occupational health and safety and employee welfare. This approach is aligned with the IFC Performance Standards and contributes to the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals.
