TAPA ASIA PACIFIC NEWS UPDATE

TAPA ASIA PACIFIC

MONTHLY UPDATE

We hope you like our new website and stay tuned for further updates. We hope you enjoy the uncluttered new design and welcome your feedback at secretariat@tapa-apac.org

Lina Li, Chair of TAPA Asia Pacific (APAC)

A LOOK AT SOME OF THE LATEST TAPA APAC INITIATIVES…

Recognising the potential of TAPA’s Incident Information Service (IIS) and the need to create awareness of incident data sharing with our partners and stakeholders. Lina Li, Chair of TAPA Asia Pacific, (APAC) region, shares this update on TAPA APAC’s initiatives to source more IIS data in the region…

‘’TAPA APAC is looking to bridge the gaps in cargo theft reporting in Asia through relationships with the agencies through which cargo theft is reported. Through the influence of organizations like TAPA, we can help Law Enforcement Agencies and businesses to work closely together in the sharing of information that allows for the reporting of cargo losses and the recovery and identification of stolen cargo. We are designing several initiatives to change how IIS reporting is done in the region.’’

Asia, with its booming economy, is a hotbed of cargo crime but experiences inconsistent and irregular incident reporting, which results in the low numbers of reported incidents to TAPA’s IIS. This is also exacerbated by cultural issues, a lack of awareness and inconsistencies

VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITE…

We are delighted to confirm the new TAPA Asia Pacific website is now live and offers new features and updates for members in the region. Our goal is to make this a very user-friendly experience for our valued members and partners…

You will also be pleased to know that our new site is much easier to navigate, and is faster and more feature oriented. Thank you to everyone in the TAPA APAC team who worked so hard on the site and final changes to get it ready for launch.

The focus on IIS remains very important to us in our region, hence our new design includes a ticker presenting the latest updates on incidents recorded in APAC. You’ll also find TAPA’s global Security Standards and updates on future upgrades in Asia Pacific, and it is now much easier for our members to find information on training, upcoming events and other related communications. Members will also be able to view and seamlessly connect with our other TAPA regions, download forms and incident data, and much more. Our new site will also contain integrated social media links for Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and WeChat. Happy to share!

in understanding the value of cargo crime reporting. TAPA APAC’s Board of Directors has highly experienced supply chain security professionals who have come forward to create a taskforce to determine the best way for incident reporting to be tackled. Some of the initiatives are:

IIS reporting awareness will be a part of the training module where trainees will understand the IIS framework and also be encouraged to spread awareness in their region;

Include a list of IIS awareness questions as part of a survey after every TAPA APAC training before participants take their examinations for certification;

• Tie-up with external vendors and media sources for IIS reporting;

• Identify avenues in the APAC region to build collaboration with other well-known industry associations.

Even though these initiatives are at a very early stage, we do hope to be able to slowly bridge the gap between reporting and incidents sharing to give our members and stakeholders quantified and qualified reports which will help mitigate risks through awareness and training.
