‘GO LIVE’ - 1 JULY 2017
THE FREE SELF-CERTIFICATION OPTION FOR
TAPA MEMBERS TAPA members are also reminded that there are self-certification options for the FSR 2017 and TSR 2017 Security Standards, effective 1 July 2017.
For TAPA members choosing this option to achieve FSR Level C or TSR Level 3, there are no certification costs. Members simply submit their own assessments directly to TAPA using the online certification tool provided by the Association.
Self-certification is designed to be user-friendly and is supported by:
• Online audit submission process
Especially the intervals of checks, and how and what to check is now much clearer. The Standard is now more user-friendly for all involved parties and more logical in terms of different topics like CCTV, lighting and alarm systems.
First, you are checking the outer perimeter security, then the loading and unloading areas, then the sides and roof of the building before you enter the warehouse and carry out the next checks inside. Everything is explained in a better way with more definitions within the standard and in the glossary.
There are now two additional needs to cover when it comes to waivers; more details about alternative measures need to be explained and any changes of waivers need to be reported to the TAPA waiver committee. However, as Time Shuttle has not needed any waivers we can say that the revision for us was a successful step in the right direction. I cannot say that the programme requires less work but it is much more structured and user-friendly.
What advice can you give to companies preparing to be audited using the 2017 FSR Standard?

and structured handbook similar to the Standard sections and ensure all employees have access to the document. Then you can use the same format to clarify and describe internal procedures, and create an internal plan for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly checks of maintenance and training procedures.
Make sure you have all documents, invoices and any proofs from all involved suppliers or service providers available on the day of the audit and this will save a lot of time. The updated TAPA EMEA training programme will help you prepare.
• Audit progress tracking from submission to certification
• Automatic renewal reminders
• Access to TAPA content experts for help and advice
So what commitment do you need to make?
To meet TAPA’s requirements for self-certification, you will need:
• At least one person from your organisation must be trained by TAPA as an FSR/TSR Authorised Auditor. This training is free to member companies
• Your Authorised Auditor must complete the TAPA assessments and manage your submissions
