SECURITY STANDARDS

TAPA’S NEW 2017 SECURITY STANDARDS ARE ABOUT TO KICK-OFF - WHAT’S YOUR GOAL?

The 2017 versions of TAPA’s Facility Security Requirements (FSR) and Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) take effect from 1 July 2017.

As part of the final testing it was decided to conduct a pilot test FSR 2017 Audit. This audit was undertaken by Ralf Liesendahl of Tüv Rheinland at the Time Shuttle facility in Aachen, Germany.

Vigilant spoke to Ralf and Markus Prinz, Time Shuttle’s Senior Manager Quality Systems, to find out how it went.

How long did the audit take?

The audit took eight hours to check all documents, procedures and installations.

How much easier is it to work with the new standard?

Ralf: The new Standard is a bit easier to audit as a few of the doubled-up requirements have been eliminated. What really helped regarding the documentation is the fact that Time

Shuttle is ISO9001:2015 certified. A big Factor depends on how the customer has organised his documentation. As for the audit with Time Shuttle, I can say their system is of a very high standard, which helped a lot during the audit.

Markus: From my point of view it all depends on the preparation of the company being audited. As long as all documents and procedures are well prepared (for example in a kind of handbook with hyperlinks and in line with the Security Requirements) and available in a proper way, then the faster the auditor can check the documentation and connected instructions.

As the company being audited, how would you compare the 2017 FSR Standard to the previous version?

Markus: After all the preparation work to update our FSR company handbook I would say that we are not talking about a revolution of the Standard but it is now much more structured and some of the requirements are better explained and in a more logical flow.
