Bristol SU has more than 70 sports clubs and societies, ranging from cycling to Ultimate Frisbee, and from netball to skydiving. This means plenty of opportunities to play sport – at university representative level, in the intramural leagues or just for fun.
Performance Sports Squad Our Performance Squad programme supports and develops the journey of student athletes who are combining sporting and academic excellence while studying. Members develop a personal action plan, supported by services such
as strength and conditioning, nutrition advice, coaching and mentoring. The squad’s alumni include Olympians, Commonwealth medallists and world champions.
Volunteering Volunteering is a great way to build confidence, develop your skills and make the most of your university experience. It is easy to get involved and there are dozens of opportunities – both student-led projects and links to charities and community groups across Bristol and beyond. In 2016, Bristol SU Volunteering was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities.
Green Gown award In 2017, Bristol students were awarded a prestigious International Green Gown award for their work alongside businesses and voluntary organisations to improve the environment. In total, students gave over 140,000 hours of their time to sustainability projects, such as teaching in primary schools or volunteering with wildlife conservation groups.
