Huge congratulations to the first cohort of SET members to gain Chartered Teacher (CTeach) status. Fifty-two members, who were the first to gain Advanced

Teacher Status (ATS) through SET last year, are also entitled to Chartered Teacher status, conferred by the Chartered College of Teaching. Delighted ATS holders joined school teacher colleagues for the inaugural CTeach graduation ceremony at the City

of London School for Girls in July. ATS, which is only available through SET and is conferred by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), recognises experience and mastery in teaching and subject knowledge. If you are interested in undertaking ATS you can find out more on the SET website by clicking on the ‘Professionalism’ tab or, for members reading the digital inTuition, click this direct link: http://bit.ly/ATSInformation

Don’t miss out on going to the 2019 SET Conference!

A special inTuition supplement is to be launched at the 2019 SET Conference, setting out the range of professional support available to teachers and trainers through the Education and Training Foundation (ETF). This invaluable guide will bring the resources to life through the shared experiences of practitioners, many of them members of SET. Look out for this supplement along with your December inTuition.

By Staff Reporter Tickets are selling fast for the second annual SET Conference which will build on last year’s award-winning inaugural event. The one-day conference, being held in Birmingham on 6 November, is titled ‘Promoting Professionalism’ and offers a packed agenda full of practical and inspiring content appealing to a wide range of practitioners and managers in the sector. Keynote speakers include

David Didau, teacher and author and perhaps best known to many as The Learning Spy blogger. His talk will be about using insights from cognitive psychology to enhance teaching practice.

4 ISSUE 37 • AUTUMN 2019 inTUITION The conference will also

feature Sally Dicketts CBE, chief executive of Activate Learning; Anshi Singh, teacher and rising social media star and BAME campaigner; and Steven Spence from The Sheffield College, who is a champion of professionalism and practitioner research. Breakout sessions will focus on English, digital technology in teaching, mental health and well- being, technical education, SEND, and non-traditional learners and environments. There’s a special early career

zone session on how to teach even better being hosted by respected author, educator and inTuition columnist Geoff Petty. Last year’s conference, the

first organised by SET, won the Best Conference Development Award in the 2018 Association Awards. It followed overwhelmingly positive feedback from delegates. Lunch is provided at the

conference, which is again being held at the modern and spacious Vox Conference Centre in Resorts World, part of the NEC complex in Birmingham. Morning and afternoon breaks offer additional networking opportunities. This year’s event is sponsored

by The Skills and Education Group and Skills Forward. There is still space for exhibitors and, if you’re interested, contact cara.griffith@ etfoundation.co.uk To book your conference ticket visit the SET website and click SET Conference under the News and Events tab. If you’re reading the digital

version of inTuition, you can go straight there by clicking on bit.ly/ SETConference2019
