Sawdust (left) was adopted through MidAtlantic Horse Rescue by the Gillen family 18 years ago primarily for trail riding and hunter pacing. The family recently adopted Maryland-bred Pep Talking (right) and are retraining him for the same jobs.


One Wild Punch, now owned by Hailey John- son, has gone from racehorse to show horse and now is a lesson horse at En-Tice-Ment Stables in Harwood.


Tabula Rasa, now owned by Jennifer Martin, has done a little bit of everything after his rac- ing career including fox hunting, barrel racing, jumpers and hunter paces.


Natalie Huso owns several OTTB mares includ- ing Maryland-bred Weekend Delight whome she now competes as a jumper. © Erin Gilmore


Maryland-bred Grateful Heart is competing at the CCI3* level in eventing by owner/rider Katie Wherley of Middletown. © Erin Gilmore


Maryland-bred Voodoo Mama Juju, bred and owned by Designated Hitters Racing LLC, recently retired from racing and is being re- trained as a show hunter.


More Mayhem, now owned by Heather Green- stone, is currently competing in Working Equi- tation with Amy Dubendorf.


Maryland-bred Unstoppable Heart is now a barrel racing champion with Addison Smith of February Star Sanctuary.


Vicarage is now owned by Elizabeth Norris who does “just about anything and every- thing” with him from trail riding to hunter paces, pony rides and shows.

Fran Burns adopted Garçon D’Or from MAHR. At 21 years young, he now enjoys retirement at Burns’ Boxwood Farm in Monkton.


Maryland-bred Sincere Man, now owned by Gabriel Martin of Warwick, has found a post race career in Western Pleasure, roping and tricks like bowing.


Mac And Breeze, now owned by Jacquelyn Dickey of North Potomac, is a champion dres- sage horse.
