Te Waredaca Eventing Education Foundation received a $500,000 legislative bond from the state on the last day of this year’s General As- sembly session. WEEF will use the funds to replace the footing used by the Waredaca Pony Club Center, which is one of the few Pony Club chapters in the state that provides horses to children who do not have their own. Te American Association of Equine Practitioners footing “the most important three inches in your horse’s career,” because foot- ing reduces the initial shock impact of the hoof hitting the ground and supports the entire leg structure of the horse to prevent ligament and tendon injuries. Senator Craig Zucker, in whose district the Waredaca Pony Club Center sits, was critical in securing this funding.


Te Retired Racehorse Project is adding a new Fund-a-Need program


to the 2023 Toroughbred Makeover. Te new program is designed for donors to make direct contributions to help put on the Toroughbred Makeover. Trough Fund-a-Need, donors can direct their gift to a wide range of categories with options for every budget. Tis year’s Makeover will take place October 11-14 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.


Te Farmers Cooperative Association of Frederick celebrates its 100th


year supporting the local farming community in May. Over the those 100 years, FCA has continuously adapted its horse feed line-up to stay up to date on the latest education, research, and innovation to develop feed op- tions for a wide variety of horses. Recently, FCA welcomed Allie Doody as its newest key account manager specializing in equine needs. Allie is a Frederick County native and grew up showing livestock and Quarter Horses as well as participating in FFA and 4-H. In May, FCA will host special events in honor of their anniversary and mission to support the local community.


Meadowbrook Stables welcomed Jessica Leonardi as its new Executive


Director, effective May 8, 2023. Jessica was the Assistant Director for Eques- trian Programs at Te Madeira School from 2012 until this year, where she


served as the school’s Intercollegiate Equestrian Association coach.


Paul Bahn of the Quarry View Building Group has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Te Historic Barn and Farm Foundation of Pennsylvania (HBFF), a non-profit “dedicated to providing educational resources for the long-term preservation, protection, and documentation of historic barns in Pennsylvania, and the agricultural heritage of the Com- monwealth.” Paul has been a key player in Quarry View’s barn restoration and adaptive reuse projects, known for his ability to work collaboratively working with Quarry View clients, architect partners, and subcontractors.
