MHC Industry Professional Members, continued...

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Show announcer and “R” rated jumper

judge Victor Kaneps re-located his Studio Farm from Colorado to Maryland and set- tled in Woodbine. Kaneps grew up around horses in his father’s hunter/jumper barn outside Minneapolis. He received a degree in Economics with a minor in Computer Science from St. Cloud University before moving to Colorado to start Studio Farms. He showed all over the country on the ‘A’ circuit and rode up to the Grand Prix level in Show Jumping. Kaneps has his USEF

‘R’ jumper judge’s card, and has judged at major venues throughout the Southwest and Midwest. Kaneps is also a hunter/jumper breeder. His 2012 Holsteiner/Ha-

noverian Di Nozzo was most recently the 2023 Champion Performance Working Hunter 3’3 at the Mid-States Summer Show in Illinois on June 14. Di Nozzo’s dam sire is Bugatti Hilltop, owned by MHC In- dustry Professional member Hilltop Farm in Colora. Victor is looking forward to meeting Marylanders and exploring judging opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic. Welcome Victor!

Karen Rae Bone of Bra-

vo! Equestrian Center is a long-time Equiery advertiser and new Industry Profes- sional member. A life-long learner and teacher of eques- trian pursuits, Karen is the founder and principal trainer at Bravo!Equestrian. A for- mer National Examiner for

the US Pony Club, she has an Instructor’s Degree from Fox Hollow Equestrian Center, where she majored in retraining diffi cult horses. Her broad equestrian background includes year-end awards in dressage and CI*eventing, A-rated hunter shows, galloping and rehabilitating race- horses, and working as an equine vet tech. She has been a teacher, trainer, vaulting coach and judge in Europe. She holds a PhD in Molecular Ge- netics, and has been a medical researcher and adjunct college professor.

In 2023 she married Victor Kaneps, a successful equestrian and ‘R’ jump- er judge (and convinced him to move to Maryland). Karen has had the privilege of learning from some of the top teachers, trainers and judges in the world, and enjoys sharing that knowledge with her students.

We also welcome Fraser Equine in Edgewater to the MHC family.

Fraser Equine is a boarding, lesson, and training barn operated by Bai- ley Fraser. Fraser is no stranger to us – she won T e Equiery’s Perpetual Hunter Award in 2009, at the ripe old age of nine. As we wrote in the July 2009 issue, Bailey “comes from a long line of strong horsewomen. Her mother, Amy Keller, rode hunters as a child on the local and rated circuits. Now Amy competes in team roping with her husband Adam Keller, Bailey’s stepfather and Bucky’s (her horse) farrier. Bailey’s grand- mother, Brenda Lamb, is a long time hunter/jumper trainer based out of Davidsonville. Bailey’s uncle, Tom Boyle, rode as a kid and now builds tack trunks and jumps. Logan, Bailey’s older sister, is also a gifted hunter rider, having won several year-end awards on the local and rated circuits as well as being the runner up for this award.” We are thrilled to see that Bailey has kept her love of horses and made it her profession.
