When Kathy Thompson told me I should take a look at a 4 yo Swedish Warmblood Linda Zang had imported, because his coloring was so much like my “Danny”, I went. I had been thinking about getting a young horse the following year.


This beautiful chestnut horse with


fl axen mane and tail was so calm and cool, but obviously affectionate as well. After Dr. Mike Erskine vetted and passed him, he came to Periwinkle Farm. And he was a really nifty horse. Drs. Roger Scullin, Mike Erskine and Pete Radue took fantastic care of his vet needs. Jim McKeown kept his shoes on. We got a bronze medal together, thanks to instructors Kathy Thompson, Cheryl Ann Loane and Walter Zettl. Geist was so likable, even though crackling noises on the indoor roof inspired some raucous behavior, and he could buck a bit too. But overall he brought joy and smiles to everyone who came into contact with him. Would that we could all say that about ourselves! Our 25 years together were a blessing to me and also to Kristine, Erin, Abbie, Kassie, Jessie and Beth, who all rode him in his later years and learned a lot. Cara and Beaver as farm managers had no problems with him and also enjoyed having him around. We all miss him so much.
