Again, architecture and World War history contribute greatly to their intrigue for tourists. In Amiens too, with its UNESCO-listed cathedral and water gardens (Les Hortillonnages) there is much to enjoy, while Chantilly with its famous cream and castle is a must-visit.

Centre-Val de Loire is the region that comprises the departments of Cher, Eure-et-Loir, Indre, Indre- et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher and Loiret. Commonly known to Anglophones as the Loire Valley, it is unbelievably rich in cultural and architectural treasures, from Renaissance châteaux along the titular river to great historic cities such as Angers, Blois, Orléans and Nantes. Among the big name châteaux to tick off your bucket list are Tours, Saumur, Blois, Chenonceau, Amboise, Chambord, Chaumont and Cheverny.
