Fixed Emergency Equipment
Certain pieces of equipment fixed inside the aircraft are necessary to ensure a safe flight. These include: • Emergency exits and entry door • Auxiliary exits, e.g. galley, baggage • Seat belts and other crew and passenger restraint systems • Emergency aisle lighting and controls • Emergency exit signs and area lighting • Exterior egress lighting • Egress devices, e.g. escape slides, life lines. etc. • Electronic locator transmitter (ELT) • Cockpit and cabin oxygen systems • Smoke detectors • Public address system • Oxygen systems
Portable Emergency Equipment
Equipment other than those fixed by the manufacturer and/or outfitter are required by regulation or recommended including: • Crash axe for aircraft with more than 19 seats
• Passenger safety information cards for FAR Part 91K, Part 135, Part 125, and EASA flight operations.
• Fire extinguishers • Flash lights • First aid/medical kits • Portable oxygen bottles/Therapeutic O2 • AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) • Life rafts and survival equipment • Life jackets and/or flotation devices • PBEs, e.g. smoke hoods
