WORKING HAND IN HAND

We need your support to help farmers like Segundo, and his father Belver to build resilience against the impact of climate change. This family of coffee growers is part of the CECAFE co-operative.

CECAFE brings together 800 farmers in the Amazonas region of Peru, who believe that their coffee is a symbol of wellbeing. The co-operative produces high quality Fairtrade and organic coffee, grown amidst rainforest and mountain ranges.

CECAFE has used Shared Interest finance for over ten years, to support farming communities. This means that farmers like Segundo and Belver can increase production, and have the income needed to manage their land effectively, working in harmony with their surroundings.

This sense of community is something that we share with CECAFE and with our supporters here in the UK. Together, we work towards a better quality of life for people living and working in remote regions.

CECAFE General Manager Elmer Sánchez said: “The financial support provided by Shared Interest has allowed our co-operative to pay farmers on delivery of their coffee.”

Segundo said: “Feeling the trust that Shared Interest gives us is something that motivates us a lot.”

Open a Share Account with £100 and your money will be loaned and reloaned to fair trade farmers and handcraft producers across the globe.
