ELECTIONS FOR THE BOARD 2025-2028
The Amnesty International United Kingdom Section Board has 12 elected ordinary members who each serve voluntarily for three consecutive years, after which they are eligible for re- election for another three years. The Board oversees the running of the UK Section, including finances, human resources, campaigning work and ensuring that we meet our international obligations.
An election will be held for four places on the Board for 2025-2028, as follows:
• One seat reserved for a member aged 18 to 23 on 25 July 2025
• One seat reserved for nomination by local groups
• One unreserved seat (open to any member)
• One other seat, to be confirmed.

ELECTIONS FOR AGM OFFICERS
In addition to elections for Amnesty International United Kingdom Section Board roles, five important governance roles are also up for election in 2025.
• AGM Chair
Responsible for presiding over the AGM in 2026.
• Standing Orders Committee (SOC) member
The SOC is responsible for applying the AGM’s rules (known as Standing Orders) and advises the AGM Chair and members about the conduct of business.
• Members’ and Directors’ Appeals Committee member (three roles) Responsible for considering appeals by Amnesty UK members or Board members who have been excluded from membership, or from the Board, due to allegations of serious misconduct or bringing Amnesty UK into disrepute.

Elections will take place in the same timeframe as the Board elections.

We are looking for people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds to contribute to the leadership and governance of Amnesty International UK section. Four seats on the Board are up for election in 2025, and we need five people to join the team that oversees our AGM. You can support and shape big decisions, our ambitious strategy and future work.
Amnesty International UK section is an active organisation led by inspiring and dedicated members and volunteers from all walks of life. Many of our governance positions are elected by our members in an annual ballot, or at our AGM.
