t was March 12, 2020, when Moniqua Acosta, Landis Homes Director of Volunteer Services, contacted resident Mae Stoltzfus and asked her to put together a team of mask


makers. Landis Homes, like many other retirement communities, was short on masks, and the need for all team members and residents to wear a mask became mandatory.


So Mae called a few friends and created a team of fifteen individuals who were ready to answer the call for homemade masks.


“In the beginning there were some hurdles. I was given one surgical mask as a pattern. After watching several YouTube videos, we came up with a pattern for the cloth mask. When we had
