Significant investment sees manufacturing capacity double at Marsh Industries

Following significant investment in state-of- the-art manufacturing and storage space at its Bridgwater facility, Marsh Industries has more than doubled its production capacity over the past three years, vastly improving delivery schedules and customer service.

Marsh Industries manufactures a broad portfolio of off-mains drainage products for the domestic, commercial, and agricultural sectors.

Providing a new level of manufacturing excellence and customer service Steve Boyer, MDat Marsh, said “Over the past few years we have invested in our manufacturing facilities and product solutions enhancing our capability to provide customers with the right product at the right time for virtually every project.”

“In 2020, against the backdrop of the Covid pandemic, we added 4,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space at our Bridgwater site to accommodate our health and

safety and service teams.”

“During 2021 we added an additional 15,000 sq ft building which should allow us to increase the production volume of our flagship product, the Marsh Ensign domestic sewage treatment plant. It is expected that by February 2022, we will be capable of producing 200 units per week.”

“The demand for Marsh products is driven by the sector’s need for efficient, economical and

environmentally sensitive products. Our vast range of solutions are type-tested and certified to ensure compliance with relevant environmental permitting programmes and building regulations.”

“What we have achieved over the past few years takes investment, foresight, and a lot of very hard work. I am extremely proud of the team’s achievements here at Marsh.”, concluded Mr Boyer.

NADC members can sign up for DrainSafe exactly ten years on

1st October 2021 marks the ten year anniversary of Transfer (the transfer of responsibility for the maintenance of private sewers to the water companies) which was arguably one of the most impactful events on the drainage industry for a generation. Indeed the threat that Transfer posed to the drainage industry was the reason that Peter Stacey and Martin Beattie formed NADC in the first place.

Fast forward ten years and a lot has happened in the drainage industry. The ever increasing sophistication of all drainage disciplines, from simple clearance to major trenchless projects and everything in between served by technology and machinery has transformed the way contractors work – or at least most of them!Ever more focus on environmental issues and increasing awareness of the potential for preventing problems before they arise, combined with the increasing sophistication with which contractors operate, provide an exciting backdrop for the industry for the next ten years.

It is fair to say that NADC has also come a long way over the last ten years. There has been a huge focus on training and qualifications, which have been fundamental to driving up standards of competence, and also a focus on ensuring that health and safety are at the forefront of the industry agenda. The membership has grown substantially and increasing attention has been given to all elements of contracting to include issues associated with gully maintenance, interceptor maintenance, septic tank compliance and the routine application of CCTV surveying in the home buying process. In addition a new awareness course is being introduced for key stakeholders such as surveyors, architects, building service engineers and local authorities about our industry and the range of services that can be, and in many cases should be, routinely accessed by professionals.

NADC has been working on DrainSafe for over two years, and whilst the scheme would have been launched some time ago were it not for Covid, it seems appropriate that such a game

changing Scheme for the drainage industry became accessible to NADC members exactly ten years on from Transfer. With effect from 1st October NADC members have been able to apply to register as DrainSafe contractors, with NADC helping them to achieve the relevant threshold to achieve scheme accreditation. DrainSafe is not about the mirror test (are you alive and have you paid your fee) which some schemes seem to apply – it is about meaningful standards and their enforcement to help drive poor practice out of the industry.

NADC anticipates that there will be a good number of NADC member contractors that will have achieved DrainSafe status by the time of the official launch at the national Drainage Show on 9th and 10th November at the National Drainage Show at Excel. They will be seen as pioneers in helping to take the industry to a new level.

Those that attend the National Drainage Show will be able to say in ten years time that they were there when DrainSafe launched!
