How To Spot A Fake

Tips To Identify Counterfeit Beauty Products

Recent news has been dominated with stories about the risk of fake, potentially harmful beauty products being sold by unofficial suppliers.

To address this problem The Guild of Beauty Therapists are running our ‘Genuine Beauty Campaign’, which encourages beauty professionals to only purchase products and supplies for their beauty business from official brands, distributors and wholesalers.

The grey market is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels that are unauthorised by the original manufacturer. This is not only having a detrimental effect on the sales of genuine product, but it is also damaging the industry, because these fake products produce substandard results, contain unknown ingredients which may pose a risk to the client’s health, and in some cases the sales of such products are being used to fund serious crime.

It is not always easy to identify a counterfeit beauty product and many therapists are being conned into thinking they have purchased the real deal. Fake products are often presented in similar packaging and are illegally given the same product names as the genuine items.

Official Brands, distributors and wholesalers. guild verified.
