M-Files teams up with IT Governance to simplify GDPR

M

-Files Corporation has partnered with IT Governance, a provider of governance, risk management and compliance solutions, to deliver a framework that

helps organisations comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

M-Files is offering IT Governance’s GDPR Documentation Toolkit as part of the company’s intelligent information management solution, to help organisations manage the critical documents and processes required for their GDPR compliance projects. Consisting of document templates required for GDPR compliance, process controls and supporting best practices, this partnership will provide organisations with a system capable of driving compliance and facilitating related documentation.

Going into effect in May 2018, organisations that process the personal data of EU residents have a limited amount of time to ensure they are compliant. Organisations found to be in breach of GDPR can face fines of up to 4% of their annual global turnover or €20 million – whichever is greater. All of the signs are that most companies are sailing very close to the wind in terms of being compliant by the due date.

Janne Järvenoja, head of legal affairs at M-Files Corporation, said. “A critical aspect of GDPR compliance is that a company can quickly and easily demonstrate that they’ve taken steps towards meeting the requirements of the regulation. Partnering with IT Governance not only enables us to provide organisations with a solution that serves as the foundation for GDPR compliance, it also enables organisations to

verify that they are indeed taking appropriate actions when audits or breaches occur.”

“IT Governance and M-Files have vast experience working with organisations that have demanding compliance requirements,” said Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman at IT Governance. “As a result, we’re able to provide a compliance framework that enables organisations to develop suitable policies and to manage and implement processes, building a strong data security posture and achieving compliance with the regulation.

Nymbus unveils new SmartDigital banking platform

Cloud core banking vendor Nymbus has launched its new SmartDigital platform, aimed as “customer-centric banking” through online and mobile channels.

The platform, it claims, will allow financial institutions “of any size” to fully engage with their digital-minded customers. The platform is built with an open architecture and open APIs to allow easy integration into third-party applications.

SmartDigital, according to Nymbus, will allow banks to compete against non-traditional financial institutions such as Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple. The platform is running at 37 institutions across the world, and has an end-user count of 10 million daily.

“The scale of digital disruption is unprecedented, and digitalisation is no longer an option for the banking industry. It’s inevitable and a matter of survival,” said David Mitchell, president at Nymbus. “With the addition of SmartDigital, financial institutions currently running obsolete technologies now have the ability to add a next-generation digital product suite.

“Then we will turn on the Nymbus SmartCore platform when their contracts expire or we will just buy out their current contracts. We want all financial institutions that have been held hostage on their legacy technology to be able to upgrade and enhance their digital channel offerings now. We will do all we can to help these financial institutions survive and make their experience to change frictionless.”
