ndrew Edwards has been named as the new CEO of Saxo Capital Markets, a subsidiary of


Saxo Bank. Edwards joins SCML as an experienced CEO with over eighteen years in the sector, of which 12 were spent establishing and expanding a complex financial services business. Edwards most recently served as CEO of ETX Capital and his appointment will strengthen Saxo’s ambition to further build out and facilitate partnerships and collaborations as well as giving private clients access to multi-asset trading capabilities.


Nick Blake has been appointed head of transaction services at Nordic bank SEB’s businesses in the UK. Nick has over 30 years of experience within the banking sector, particularly in transaction services. He has held management and sales positions at several major financial institutions including JP Morgan, RBS and HSBC.

Torstone Technology has appointed Payal Raina to the newly created position of global head of markets. Payal will be responsible for overseeing Torstone Technology’s global marketing and branding initiatives as well as internal and external communications for the company. Prior to Torstone Technology, Payal led marketing for eNett’s EMEA and Americas region headquartered in London, responsible for growing new business and driving strategic marketing plans across these regions. Payal’s career in marketing began with Microsoft in Canada; thereafter she worked for a number of world leading brands such as General Electric, Barclays, WorldPay and EnergyQuote JHA.


The FinTech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK) has chosen Syed Musheer Ahmed as its interim general manager. Musheer was one of the founding board members of FTAHK at its launch in June 2017. He is a member of the UN’s ESBN Young Entrepreneurs Taskforce, as well as being a regular speaker at industry events and a guest lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.


Aquis Exchange, the exchange services group, has hired Adrian Ip to the newly-created role of head of project and product management. Ip, who joined Aquis in late September 2017, is a veteran financial services manager having spent five years in that function at Thomson Reuters. The US Department of the Treasury has announced Kenneth A. Blanco as director of the financial crimes enforcement network (FinCEN), a bureau in Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI). Blanco joins Treasury after serving as the acting assistant attorney general of the Criminal Division at the United States Department of Justice. He was appointed to the position of deputy assistant attorney general, Criminal Division in April 2008. Blanco has supervised many of the Criminal Division’s most significant national and international investigations into illicit finance, money laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, and sanctions violations, including investigations of global financial institutions and money services businesses. Much of his work is in the international banking and financial services area, working and collaborating with international partners in countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Panama.
