15 COMPONENT CLEANING ORBITAL PIPE WELDING
BOC, the UK and Ireland’s largest supplier of industrial gases and related equipment, showcased its latest developments in component cleaning technology at MACH 2014. On display was the CRYOCLEAN® CO2
Snow, BOC’s innovative liquid snow cleaning technology which is being introduced into the UK market. It has
been specifically created for cleaning component surfaces before painting, welding or coating and, fully automated, is an efficient alternative to aqueous or chemical processes for surface cleaning prior to coating. “CRYOCLEAN Snow feeds liquid CO2
into a specially designed snow chamber,
where dry ice crystals are created and shot onto the component surface using compressed air, resulting in effective cleaning without any surface damage. With faster processing times and fewer process steps, it uses less water and energy and is therefore more cost-effective than existing cleaning processes while producing the same quality results. It is also more environmentally-friendly because no liquid cleaning agents come into contact with the product, and there is no drying process or waste water treatment required,” explained BOC.

PRECISION WELDING TECHNOLOGY
In response to the fabricator’s need to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals, Victor Technologies has launched a new range of Tweco Arcmaster inverter welding solutions. The range comprises three systems that combine the hardware with the latest digital software controls to produce strong seam quality on even the thinnest materials. All systems provide advanced Stick welding controls, including automatic Hot Start, adjustable Stick Arc Force control and electrode anti-stick system. The Tweco Arcmaster 220 AC/DC
weighs less than 14kg, uses 230V input power and provides advanced AC wave shaping and pulsed DC TIG controls that enable operators to improve weld puddle control, control the weld bead profile, reduce heat input and increase travel speeds. For applications that require high output, 3-phase performance, the Tweco Arcmaster 301 AC/DC weighs 16.3kg, uses 400V input power and provides the same advantages and features of the 220 AC/DC, at higher outputs. The third product in this new offering is a high performance workhorse for DC TIG applications. The Tweco Arcmaster 301 TS is a heavy-duty DC TIG inverter that provides the same performance as the 301 AC/DC, for fabricators who do not require AC welding capabilities.

GeneralWelding Supplies (GWS) has introduced Magnatech orbital welding equipment into its product portfolio to provide tube and pipe welding solutions to its customers. Magnatech’s Pipeliner II model uses the Flux Core ArcWelding (FCAW) process with the capability to produce consistent welds designed to meet pressure, process and pipeline code standards. A push-pull feeder ensures positive electrode delivery, while allowing the use of standard 15kg spools. The system is designed for pipe of 168mm (6”) and larger. Only one component is required to adapt the weld head to different pipe sizes. Flexible straight track allows large diameter vessels to be welded and overlay clad. “The high deposition rate FCAW process is suitable for heavy wall, large-diameter
piping. The Pipeliner achieves GTAW process quality at productivity of 5-10 times that of GTAW welding,” added GWS.

AUTOMATIC SPOT WELDERS
GYS, the French manufacturer of car body repair and welding equipment, has announced the UK launch of a major advance in functionality in its latest range of spot welders. Dubbed ‘Energy Dynamic Control’ (EDC), this technology provides fully automatic setting of the machine requiring no parameter input from the operator. This technology is fitted to the range of GYS C Clamp spot welders which carry vehicle manufacturer approvals. “The new proprietary technology (patent-pending) will set the spot welding parameters automatically taking account of metal thickness and the resistance variations of high strength metals. Benefits include ease of use but, importantly, a reduction in the chance of incorrect settings being applied to the weld,” GYS told Welding World. “GYS is the largest provider of spot welding equipment to bodyshops across Europe and we are now expanding our UK operations.” This launch coincides with a change
in distribution strategy by GYS, who is now supporting a network of equipment, paint and parts distributors directly from the GYS UK headquarters inWarwick.
