CORRECTION: On 31 October 2024, The London Business Guide published by APL Media included inaccurate statements regarding inclusive parental policies. Andrew Lloyd, associate at Simkins LLP, was misquoted. He actually stated: “A previous client of mine in a same-sex female relationship had children through sperm donors. As a result, she was entitled to maternity leave when she gave birth to their child and paternity leave when her partner gave birth to their second child. Renaming paternity leave to a more gender-neutral term, such as secondary carer leave, would be more inclusive.” Andrew did not indicate that the employee would be ineligible for paternity leave or paternity pay.
