22ND APRIL 2024 Change management must change

It’s time we learn how to make organisational change a success. T e way to do that is to be inclusive with bespoke technology designed for individuals and organisations

Organisational change management has remained relatively unchanged for almost 100 years. T e focus on change management itself has been primarily structured for organisa- tions to facilitate change within, by using models on their people rather than with or for their people. If you’ve ever wondered why it’s so diffi cult to facilitate change adoption or culture shift, it’s mostly because we’ve not been taught how to manage personal change for ourselves or for others. But thanks to the research and

global change eff orts of Dr Grant Van Ulbrich, the way we manage change is now changing.

information. Why? Because until now, there hasn’t been a model exclu- sively for individuals to use for them- selves. People are told to just deal with it, don’t worry about it, they’ll be fi ne. In essence, they are told not included. T at rarely provides comfort and fails to off er any crit- ical refl ection or directions of how to process and manage the change for themselves. It’s no wonder organ- isational change often fails, when leaders don’t include the feelings and needs of the individual employees. To change the way we manage

change within organisations, Dr Grant has created the world’s fi rst bespoke personal change model, with an app and web-based system, and a certifi cation programme for organisations to become inclusive change management facilitators. T e programme is called Scared So What. T e fi rst part of the model is ‘Scared’. T is focuses on one’s feel- ings and decision making. (See the ‘Scared Wheel’ below.) T e second part of the model is

‘So What’. T is is where people make their own plan to manage their change. (See the ‘So What Wheel’.)

DR GRANT VAN ULBRICH

“We’ve never been taught how

to manage personal change for ourselves,” says Dr Grant, a TEDx speaker with over one million views, an author and an accredited sales transformation coach. When change happens, people’s

fi rst thoughts typically go towards assumption and rarely do they make a decision based on critical refl ective

How can Scared So What help? Dr Grant has put this model into an app and desktop version for organ- isations to use with their people in teaching and supporting them in managing all types of change. He’s also created the fi rst digital insight system that allows the organisation to see the anonymised data, giving it real-time insights into the types of change reactions and scenarios people are experiencing. T is pioneering system allows for inclu- sive change management for the way we live and work today.

“For organisations to embrace change, they must begin to include the needs and feelings of the very people who are expected to carry out and execute the desired change”

Backed by T e Oxford Review

and accredited by the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning and CPD UK, this model also has a certifi cation programme with globally extensive rigour to take change management into the future for organisations and their people. Dr Grant says, “We can no longer do the same thing and expect

diff erent results. For organisations to embrace change, they must begin to include the needs and feelings of the very people who are expected to carry out and execute the desired change. To achieve this, you can become certifi ed and give your team this programme designed exclu- sively for their needs. Give them Scared So What.”
