A beautiful island in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is well-known for its beautiful beaches, stunning landscape, natural lagoons and authentic, buzzy villages. By Ella Delancey Jones
Based roughly 1,500 miles off the south- east coast of Africa, Mauritius has a tropical landscape of native forest, mountainous terrain, rivers, forests and lush vegetation. The weather is pleasant year-round, with
a warm, often humid summer extending from November to April, followed by a cooler, dry winter from June to September.
A tropical paradise for honeymooners and families alike, the islands of Mauritius attract more than 1.3 million tourists every year, a number that’s almost identical to the native population. Despite its calm vibes and relaxing
atmosphere, Mauritius can be a hive of busy activity if you want it to be.
Dramatic coastal scenery It’s best to think of the island as having four corners. In the north corner, visitors will find a beautiful coastline that extends all the way from Pointe aux Piments to Grand Gaube. The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, with its wonderful array of tropical plants, is well worth a visit.
