H&H CLASSICS HOLD FIRST SPORTS AND GT CAR AUCTION AT WOODCOTE PARK

Experience a little bit of motorsport history fi rst-hand when H&H Classics brings its cars to the Hall of Fame

H&H CLASSICS, THE leading classic car auction house, will host its first auction in partnership with Motor Sport Magazine’s ‘Hall of Fame’ event at the Royal Automobile Club, Woodcote Park in Surrey on June 6th. Among the cars on off er is one of the

most important Subaru rally cars ever made at £175,000 to £200,000; a unique 1950’s Tojeiro Climax Coupe at £65,000 to £75,000; a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 like the one used by James Bond, estimate £700,000 to £800,000; and a very pretty 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale estimate £90,000 to £110,000. H&H Classics was founded by Simon

Hope in 1993 as a specialist auction house dedicated solely to the sale of collectors’ motorcars and motorcycles. Some twenty- two years later, the company can boast a continuous trading history which exceeds that of its UK rivals. The company is staff ed by hands-on enthusiasts with over 600 years combined experience, and its specialist valuers are among the most knowledgeable in the industry. H&H will hold an auction at the event in

2017, 2018 and 2019. The event provides a glittering occasion attended by leading motorsport personalities to honour the giants of motorsport. Previous winners of the Hall of Fame Awards include legendary names like Tazio Nuvolari, Enzo Ferrari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx, Tony Brooks and Ron Dennis.

H&H Classics also holds a series of very

successful sales at Duxford Imperial War Museum in Cambridgeshire each year. Simon Hope, chairman of H&H, comments:

“We are delighted to be the auction partner for the Motor Sport Hall of Fame event. It fulfills three strategic wins for us; partnership with Motor Sport Magazine, one of the fl agship publications of motor racing, a world famous event that honours drivers and key industry fi gures whom we all admire, and the opportunity to take our growing success south. It’s a win-win-win opportunity as we see it. For 2016, Woodcote Park’s proximity to our Hindhead offi ce run by former race driver, John Markey, is an added bonus.”

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SUBARU RALLY CARS EVER MADE (ESTIMATE: £175,000 TO £200,000)

H&H Classics will sell the very car – chassis 001 – that helped Subaru secure a third consecutive World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title in 1997. Honed by none other than the legendary Colin McRae, chassis 001 played a vital role in Prodrive’s typically thorough test and development programme ahead of the 1997 season (and indeed was the press launch car). 2017 marks the twentieth anniversary of the World Rally Car formula to which the World Rally Championship is still run. The Impreza WRC97 remains one the era’s most charismatic machines and chassis 001 is bound to generate signifi cant interest when it goes under the hammer with H&H. The vendor sums up ‘P18 WRC’ as follows: “It’s a truly exhilarating car to drive with levels of grip and handling that would embarrass many a modern supercar.”
