1. America After The Fall – Royal Academy of Arts
The immediate aftermath of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 was a turbulent time for America. However, as is the way of human nature, with great hardship comes great creativity, and this is the focus of the Royal Academy’s collection – a showcase of the artists of the 1930s who captured the mood of the nation. Presenting pieces from renowned
artists such as Georgia O’Keeff e, Jackson Pollock and Charles Sheeler, there is also the opportunity to witness the iconic Grant Wood painting, American Gothic, for the fi rst time outside of America.

2. The Japanese House: Architecture and Life after 1945 – Barbican Centre
This spring, London’s famous Barbican Centre will be hosting an exhibition about the development of Japanese architecture after the Second World War and its impact on the western world. Featuring the work of over 40 architects,
its most impressive achievement is the 1:1 recreation of the famous Moriyama House
by the Pritzker-prize winning architect, Ryue Nishizawa – considered one of the most important houses of the 21st century. Jane Alison, head of visual arts at the
Barbican says: “With this exhibition we have achieved a new level of ambition. We invite the visitor to not just consider Japanese architecture, but to experience it.”
