Multi-coloured tufted cushion from Habitat, and the Revolve Table Lamp by Bert Frank.
The kitchen and dining room are two areas that some people may fi nd challenging to decorate in a stylish way for winter. How can people add a wintery feel to these rooms in a natural, sophisticated way? Lighting can help give these areas a warm and cosy feel. Adding table lamps to give a relaxed mood in a dining room, or even incorporating a dimmer switch or candle light can help with what can normally be very harsh kitchen lighting.
Can you recommend some of your go-to brands or websites that you use to pick up some stylish winter essentials?
Trouva.com, a website which gives you the opportunity to shop for design-led homeware, fashion and accessories from one convenient destination is a great place to search for independent stores and quality products. Another website I recommend for winter essentials is
GoodhoodStore.com. There, you’ll fi nd stylish homeware ranges, tableware, glassware, baskets, and more. If you’re after a stylish selection of utilitarian blankets, candles and other household goods, you can’t go past Labour & Wait. Located on Redchurch Street in
London, it has been providing unique interior goods since 2000.
Finally, do you have any expert tips for anyone who is having trouble making their interiors come together? Less is more. Feel free to use colour and experiment, but keep the palette considered and the mix of materials limited. Too many colours and too many fi nishes on furniture, fl ooring — anywhere, really — can create a space that feels too busy. A feeling of calm is the one critical thing I look for in an interior space. This feeling doesn’t have to come from neutral shades, but a well-considered scheme with limited styles.
