Sound and Vision galleries herald a new era for the National Science and Media Museum B
radford’s National Science and Media Museum is opening its doors to a new chapter with
Sound and Vision — two fl oors of brand-new permanent gallery spaces celebrating the past, present and future of fi lm, photography, televi- sion, animation, sound and gaming. At the heart of the museum’s
£6.8 million transformation, Sound and
Vision showcases over 500
exhibits drawn from one of the most signifi cant collections of its kind in the world. Visitors can explore early
photographic innovations, step into a recreated community radio station and marvel at Europe’s fi rst IMAX projector. T e experience moves from the earliest experiments in visual media to the powerful ways sound and images connect us today. Whether you’re a horror fan, music
obsessive or just curious about how media shapes our world, the inno- vative and interactive galleries hold something for everyone. Get up close to a mixing desk used by T e Prodigy, come face to face with
Christopher Lee’s infamous Dracula fangs or immerse yourself in one of history’s most famous photographic hoaxes — the Cottingley Fairies. From spine-tingling props to world-shifting tech, Sound and Vision invites you to imagine, question and play with the ways media shapes our lives. Designed with Bradford’s own
communities at their core, the galleries have been developed in collaboration with local partners to ensure these globally signifi cant stories are told in fresh and meaningful ways. Sound
and Vision brings authentic voices and experiences to the forefront, ensuring everyone can see themselves in the story of media technologies — now and for generations to come. A major highlight of Bradford’s year
as UK City of Culture 2025, Sound and Vision reaffi rms the museum’s position as a national institution rooted in its local community. It’s a
