A new cultural hub in Lisbon I

Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian: Lisbon’s new cultural landmark

n the heart of Lisbon, the newly reopened Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian (CAM) offers a

unique experience where art, archi- tecture and nature come together.

An award-winning landmark Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kengo Kuma, the new CAM building is a fluid, inviting space that blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings.

Its striking canopy,

inspired by Japanese architecture and clad in hundreds of Portuguese ceramic tiles, sits amid a lush garden — an urban oasis cherished by locals. Recognised as ArchDaily’s Building of the Year 2025, CAM is a standout addition to Lisbon’s vibrant cultural scene.

Collections and exhibitions With a year-round programme of exhibitions and live events, CAM is home to Portugal’s most comprehen- sive collection of modern and contem- porary art — more than 12,000 works in total. Te collection includes major names such as Paula Rego, Sonia and Robert Delaunay and David Hockney.

CAM’s Table — a culinary journey Led by top Lisbon chef André Magalhães, CAM’s new restaurant offers

a farm-to-table menu that

champions local ingredients, season- ality and sustainability. Alongside its regular cafe service,

the restaurant serves a la carte lunch daily and dinner from Tursday to Saturday.
