Highland Safaris begins a new era of family- led ownership

Founded by Donald and Julie Riddell in 1992, the iconic Highland experience near Aberfeldy is entering an exciting new chapter as second-cousin Robbie Winton takes ownership, building on its legacy and future potential

With strong family ties to the business, previous experience as operations manager and a deep personal connec- tion to the Highlands, Robbie brings both continuity and fresh ambition to Highland Safaris. His leadership marks a natural progression for the business, ensuring it remains rooted in its heritage while embracing new opportunities for growth. For more than 30 years, Highland Sa-

faris has offered unforgettable encoun- ters with Scotland’s landscapes and wildlife, combining adventure, conser- vation and storytelling. It has become a cornerstone of nature-based tourism in Perthshire, attracting visitors from across the UK and internationally. Te business offers a wide range of

guided experiences, including moun- tain safaris, outdoor activities such as archery and axe throwing, and unique red deer and barn owl encounters, as well as private bookings and corpo- rate events. Tese experiences contin- ue to play a key role in strengthening Perthshire’s reputation as a leading destination for responsible tourism. For Robbie, the acquisition rep- resents more than a business move.

“Highland Safaris has been part of my life for a long time, so taking on own- ership feels incredibly special,” he says. “I’ve seen first-hand the care, passion and hard work that goes into creating these experiences. My focus now is on continuing that legacy while bringing new energy and ideas into the mix. “I’m also excited to be doing this

alongside my partner Rebecca, who brings creativity and energy through her business, Socially Organised. She’ll be leading our marketing and support- ing day-to-day operations, helping us tell our story in a way that feels authen- tic and true to who we are.” Looking ahead, Robbie’s focus is on

strengthening connections with the local

community, welcoming both

returning and new visitors, and ex- panding opportunities for private, group and corporate experiences. Highland Safaris remains open

year-round, hosting visitors, locals and businesses alike.
