Her efforts proved so successful that soon everyone wanted to get their hands on her liqueur and in 1821 her husband, Girolamo Luxardo, founded a distillery to produce her Maraschino in bulk for a wider audience. Almost 200 years later, the
Luxardo brand continues to thrive and is still 100% family owned. The sixth generation of the family is in charge today, distilling the Maraschino that made their name famous with bartenders worldwide, as well as a full line of classic Italian liqueurs. such as Sambuca, Amaretto, Cherry Liqueur Morlacco, Grappa, Limoncello and Passione But the

The humble cherry The Luxardo family specialise
in
flavour, making some of the world’s most famous liqueurs- the back bone to all your favourite cocktails! However, if there is one flavour Luxardo knows more than most it is the humble cherry. The Padova region of northern Italy has been home to the Luxardo distillery since its move in 1947 and is surrounded by orchards of over 30,000 Marasca Cherry trees that give these products their unique, rich flavour!

Fill a tumbler with ice and simply add equal measures (recommend 25ml each) of Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin, Luxardo Sangue Morlacco and Campari. Stir and garnish with a twist of orange zest and a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry. To bring it up to another level, why not

Luxardo Sangue Morlacco The name Sangue Morlacco (Morlacco blood) was given by the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio in 1919 after the group of warriors from the Dalmation Hinterlands (Morlacco) who defended the borders of the Republic of Venice through the 17th and 18th centu- ries. The name is inspired by the liqueur’s sumptuous dark red colour and the richness of the liquid. The liquid itself is a unique distillation of a Luxardo Cherry Brandy infused with fermented Marasca cherry juice that’s been matured in oak vats for two years, giving it an incredible, distinctive sour cherry flavour. It’s a perfect after-dinner drink served either on its own or as a base for cocktails such as a Cherry Cobbler or a Cherry Brandy Flip.
The Luxardo Maraschino Cherry The first Luxardo Maraschino Cherries were produced at the original Luxardo plant in Zara around 1905, likely
to be
the
first of their kind in the world. The Luxardo Original Maraschino Cherries are cherries that have been candied with Marasca syrup from the family’s orchards. Maraschino cherries are key ingredients for a whole range of cocktails as well as classics such as the Aviation. Many ‘cocktail’ cherries are available on the market but none can compare to the original. This is a must-have on your cocktail trolley at home.
Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin The latest addition to the Luxardo Cherry family is the new Sour Cherry Gin; the result of an infusion of Luxardo Marasca cherry juice with a London dry gin distillate. It has an unusual deep red colour and a strong aroma of Marasca cherries married with intense juniper top notes. The initial taste is of traditional gin with notes of juniper and spice followed by a velvety cherry hit and a long, deliciously sour finish. This sour cherry gin makes a fantastic G&T, but why not try a G&T with a winter twist by adding a spritz of orange zest after adding the tonic and a stick of cinnamon as a garnish to enhance the fragrant warming flavours of the botanicals.
