Gifts for children Christmas Unwrapped 25

Motor skills Through the construc- tion of playsets, such as the hospital, pirate ship etc, imaginative play with PLAYMOBIL improves fi ne motor skills by encour- aging hand-to-eye coordination, while at the same time also sharpening children’s visual and tactile senses.

Making a classic — every 10 seconds Every PLAYMOBIL face consists of just eyes and mouth, as this is how children draw them. These elements are injection-moulded, rather than printed, on to every face to ensure they can’t be rubbed off and last forever. The hands are made of a softer plastic to allow the fi gure to hold accessories including swords and cups. The fi gure design hasn’t changed since

its inception more than 40 years ago, which means accessories from characters made in 1974 can still be used with today’s characters,

and vice versa. Each PLAYMOBIL fi gure has seven parts: legs, a skeleton, body, two arms, a head and hair.

PLAYMOBIL — from 18 months to 10 years PLAYMOBIL 1.2.3 was launched in 1990, bringing a range of playsets for younger chil- dren from 18 months to three years. These sets have less articulation and fewer, chunkier pieces, ideal for smaller hands. All items are colour-fast and easy to wash making them a great introduction to the PLAYMOBIL brand. Once a child becomes four, they can enjoy the wider range of sets in the infamous blue boxes. For 2018, there’s lots to enjoy

from

PLAYMOBIL including horse farm, top agents and fairies, plus the all-new aquarium and explorers themes.
