NI Travel News caught up with this year’s NI Travel Consulant of the Year, Cara Morgan from Terra Travel, following on from her award-winning night...

How does it feel to be chosen as the 2024 Northern Ireland Travel Consultant of the Year? It feels unbelievable. This award is one the biggest accolades in travel to achieve and I’m so proud that I’ve managed to do that. I’m so passionate about this industry and I’m so happy that this has shone through to all my customers that voted. I was quite surprised on the night but it was a total honour to be chosen and it was made even sweeter by having my family and the Terra crew there to celebrate with me.

I would love to thank all of my wonderful customers who voted for me, for recognising my hard work and dedication to them, but I would also like to thank the judges on the day as well who saw my passion for the industry and decided that I was the worthy winner.

How did you get started in the industry and what is your favourite part of it?

I started in the industry officially in 2017 but I had been in and out of the office doing basic jobs like filing, loading bookings and issuing tickets as a bit of summer

work experience when I was in school. It was always my goal after school to come into travel. I completed a degree in Travel & Tourism with Spanish at Ulster University and then started pretty much straight away after my last exam. I said this in the assessment, but it still remains true. I don’t think I could pin point one part of the industry that is my favourite. In terms of dealing with customers, I love going to work everyday and interacting with people, knowing that you could be creating such special memories for people, whether that be a first family holiday or even the spot where they’ll get engaged! Of course I love the social aspect of the job as well, going to events and meeting new suppliers but also getting to see all my travel industry pals on a regular basis. What does your future hold in terms of the industry and your progression from now? My long term goal of course is to stay in Terra Travel. As well as continuing to sell holidays, I want to gain more in depth knowledge about the industry as a whole. Over the next few years I want to focus on developing my role as a travel consultant and continue to be the best consultant I can be but I would love to see my role developing and progressing over time. We already have a fantastic management team with us and I do hope they stay with us for many more years to come but I want to be totally ready to step forward into whichever role I’m needed in when the time comes.
